Press Release
(New Orleans, LA) FERRARA SHOWMAN GALLERY is proud to present We’ve Met Before…, a group exhibition which surveys the gallery program through the works of 33 represented artists. Featuring new, recent, and important earlier works by each artist, the exhibition fills the entirety of the gallery space for one expansive show and comprehensive view of the talent, ideas, and themes of a large cross-section of our artists.
The exhibition was inspired by that all-to-common occurrence when attending an event; you encounter an individual whom you’ve met numerous times before and yet they greet you: “Nice to meet you”. In your mind you’re recounting the many previous interactions you’ve had with this person and wondering why none of these prior instances have left a memorable mark - but you politely reply, “It’s nice to see you”. For the gallerists and artists of the Arts District New Orleans, White Linen Night can produce countless moments of this exchange. For the surplus of 40,000+ attendees, this is often the only night of the year that they will attend ADNO’s monthly First Saturday Gallery Openings. We’ve Met Before… strives to offer a small glimpse of what the gallery offers year-round, in hopes of connecting each visitor with even one artist who can inspire them to return, and the gallery to welcome them, before the next White Linen Night.
Artists highlighted in the exhibition include: Starsky Brines, Amanda Joy Brown, Tiffany Calvert, Ginger Williams Cook, Tony Dagradi, Jenny Day, E2 – Kleinveld & Julien, Margaret Evangeline, Skylar Fein, Jonathan Ferrara, Kat Flyn, Becca Fuhrman, Ben Hamburger, Barbara Kuebel, Noe Kuremoto, Brandon V. Lewis, Bonnie Maygarden, Kristin Moore, Adam Mysock, Peter Olson, Ruth Owens, Anastasia Pelias, Gina Phillips, REWA, Marna Shopoff, Aimée Farnet Siegel, Jered Sprecher, Dirk Staschke, Alexander Stolin, Carlton Scott Sturgill, Trenity Thomas, Michael Tole, and Paul Villinski.
We’ve Met Before… will be on view 15 July through 5 September, with an opening reception on 1 August from 5 – 9 PM in conjunction with the Arts District New Orleans’ highly anticipated, 32nd Annual Fidelity Bank White Linen Night – the city’s hottest art party of the year which features new (and some of the most important) gallery exhibitions of the year. As the district’s sole, annual fundraiser, the event attracts over 30,000 art lovers to the arts district for an artful block party, gallery openings, live music, and food and beverage. A second, closing reception will be held during the monthly First Saturdays on 5 September from 5 – 8 PM.
